Privacy Policy

Baezl is operated by Serna Media, Inc. ("we", "us"). Baezl keeps a college student's semesters, courses, assignments, and due dates in one place. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. By using Baezl you agree to this policy.

What we collect

Account info: your name, your email address, and a securely scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your password as plain text.
Sign in with Google: if you use it, Google sends us your name, your email address, and whether Google has verified that address. We use them to create your account and sign you in. We do not store your Google profile picture. Google's own privacy policy covers your Google account.
Your school details: your academic institution and expected graduation.
What you track: your semesters, your courses (course names, professors, class days and times), and your assignments (names, types, due dates, notes, links, and whether they are done).
Settings: the avatar colour you pick, and your time zone, which your browser tells us so due dates show in your own time.
Two-factor authentication: if you turn it on, the secret and recovery codes, stored encrypted.
Technical info: your browser type, device, and the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to understand how the site is used.

How we use it

To run your account and show you what is due next.
To send emails the account needs, such as verifying your email address and resetting your password.
To send occasional product updates, if you receive any. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
To keep the service safe, fix bugs, and make it better.

Who can see your information

Your garden is private. Baezl has no public profiles and no sharing, so no one else can see your semesters, courses, or assignments.

Companies that help us run Baezl

We use outside services for specific jobs. They only get the information they need for that job, and they are not allowed to use it for anything else:

Analytics: HubPilot, our own analytics tool, helps us understand how the site is used.
Sign-in: Google, if you choose to sign in with it.
Hosting and email: a hosting provider runs our servers, and an email delivery service sends our emails.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to measure how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of Baezl may not work without them.

Keeping your data and deleting your account

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and your account and everything in it are permanently deleted. You can also email [email protected] and we will do it for you. Some records may be kept if the law requires it.

Deleting a semester permanently removes it and every course and assignment in it, right away. Deleting a single course or assignment removes it from your garden right away; for now we keep that deleted copy on our servers, and deleting your account removes all of it for good.

Your choices

See or update your information in Settings.
Unsubscribe from product emails using the link at the bottom of any of them.
Delete your account, or ask us to.

Children

Baezl is built for college students and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you live in California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA:

Know: ask what personal information we have collected about you and how we use it.
Delete: ask us to delete your personal information.
Correct: ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
Opt out: we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
No retaliation: we will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, let you know. Using Baezl after a change means you accept the updated policy.
